Events: Getting out and about…
The Moray Gig crew take part in regular events. In addition to the biennial contest of seamanship, there is often a smaller home nations version somewhere in the UK in the intervening years. Other activities the gig has attended in one form or another include highland games, Forres theme day (gala) and the Portsoy Traditional Boat Festival.
Our Safety boat crew also help out with sailing competitions at The Royal Findhorn Yacht Club. They hold an annual regatta (Findhorn Week) that takes place in July, and every four years The RFYC hosts the National 18 sailing championships. Working with the different boats, each with a different rig, is great training and experience for the rescue crews.
